How to Plan for a Second Child

Wait for around two years after your first child. This will give your body enough time to recover from your first pregnancy.  Besides, when you deliver your second child your first kid will be around four years or so, big enough so that you can devote much of your time to your new born.

A new member in a family will need much of your time. Therefore you have to prepare yourself mentally as well as physically. Therefore, it is necessary to give yourself time so that you are physically fit to conceive a second child.

Second pregnancy does bring with itself lots of responsibilities. You are already a mother of one. Besides you have to adjust yourself for the new one as well as take care of a sweet toddler already running around you. With all this you can ask some family member or a close relative of yours to provide you with some assistance.

It is important for you to tell your first child about the second sibling that will be around in few months. This is one of the toughest jobs to do. Small kids are one of the most inquisitive ones. They throw some of the simplest questions and want the answers which they can understand.

Give them some time to get used to the idea of a playmate that will arrive shortly. Tell them a story so that they prepare themselves. Let them take up the job to decorate the room for the new arrival. This will strengthen the bond between your children.

Browse the wardrobe and search the baby items that you purchased for your first child. Examine them carefully and see which one you can retain and which items you can discard. Involve your kid in this activity. She will surely enjoy this.

Take a healthy and balanced diet to avoid miscarriage. If you are a drinker and smoker then avoid all this. All these activities increase the chances of miscarriage.

Keep up with the doctor’s schedule. Visit them regularly and take all the tests to ensure that your uterus is developing as it should be. The tests will tell you whether you have a normal pregnancy or you need to take some precautions. So, never overlook these dates of appointment with your doctor.

Avoid dieting. You may want to reduce your weight and stay in shape after delivering your first child. But with you second child, this is not the time. You can take the exercises and dieting after the delivery. This is the time to eat a healthy nutritious diet so that you deliver a healthy baby.

Although nausea and morning sickness makes you to skip meals, but once they are gone ensure that you take all the vitamin and supplements recommended by your doctor as well as a complete diet.
